Australian Cricket Players and their Superstitions

Image
The term “sportsman’s spirit” is often used to signify anyone who is being unperturbed and rational at the times of any loss. Let’s say for example in a game of cricket if the team loses, it will be their sportsman’s spirit to accept that lose and move on rather than losing all their temper and motivation. However, superstition like lucky charm or lucky shirts are still very well part and parcel of the sport be it a real life game of cricket or be it a virtual game like fantasycricket . Everybody wants to be successful and they might be eligible for it too but then there is that little push that they need to keep themselves calm and focused on field. The Australian cricket team say for instance has some of its big players with their cute little beliefs that they according to them helps them on-field. Now as ludicrous as some of them may sound, they are still what they are- a carrier of good luck, a motivator. Here are some of the mighty Kangaroos with their quirky habits

10 Umpiring Signals in Cricket

Umpiring officials constitute the backbone of the cricket, be it the  real life  game or the  daily fantasy cricket.     Being the official in charge of the game it is the onus of the two umpires present in the field to maintain the fairness of the game.  Thus often these gentlemen had to use a whole array of Umpiring Signals to indicate the decisions they  make .   Here is a list of some common gestures that umpires    Umpiring Signal for Out   The Umpire raises his index finger, above his head to indicate the batsman is ‘out’. This is unlike ‘not out’ where the signal is to clearly say ‘not out’ by shaking his head.    However, the umpire can only act after the fielding side appeals by screaming  “How’s that?”( HowzThatt ), “Wot  Wot ” or “How was he?”   Umpiring Signal for No-Ball    This signal is given if the bowler’s foot lands over the front line of the bowling crease.  Here the delivery is considered to be a ‘no-ball’.   Umpiring Si

The man who took 19 wickets for 90

James Charles Laker or Jim Laker is the man with a record that till now remains unchallenged in the world of cricket. The man who has successfully shielded his record of picking up 19 wickets for 90 runs is a phenomenal bowler who played for the Surrey County Cricket Club. In a world bereft of  fantasy cricket  this man achieved what still many couldn't.    Being born in Putney district of London in the year 1922, Jim happens to carry an identity with him of being one of the trickiest  bowler  from England. Nevertheless, this formidable bowler did not do much in his career but astonishingly, what he did has remained uncontested till now. Jim’s daunting feat of taking 19 wickets is still unsurpassed by bowlers who have managed to take 17 wickets at most.    Laker would be remembered forever in the history of cricket  for the Old Trafford Test of 1956. Here, his 19 for 90 remain the only 19-wicket haul in history. Moreover, his 10 for 53 in the second innings are als

10 Bowlers with strangest bowling actions

Cricket has always been a batsmen’s game where every bit of the rule in the game has been designed to favor the batsman and not the bowler. From the very beginning the game had been biased towards the batting side. It is actually because at the core of the cricket it works on the ‘reactive science’ and the thrill of the game comes from the reply that a batsman can give to the ball hurled at him. Moreover, just look at the cricket viewership, have you ever seen anyone, not hungry for runs from their  favourite   team . Scoring the biggest  amount  of runs is what anyone ever wants to see from their team. It’s simple, taking more wickets didn’t make anyone win any match if their batting side didn’t do their job properly.  Moreover  in the current scenario when online games like  fantasy cricket  are growing in popularity, much of the game depends on the skill of the batsman. As it happens, in order to  play fantasy cricket  a player must create his own 11 and points would be earned b
